Segment Model Explained
A segment is a logical unit of content — roughly 20 words or 100 characters. Different translation modes consume segments at different rates: Translation uses a 1x multiplier, Localization uses 1.5x, and Transcreation uses 2x. This reflects the additional creative and contextual work involved.
Your segment pool is shared across your organization — all seats draw from the same capacity, giving you flexibility in how you allocate work.
Overage Options
When your team approaches the segment limit, you choose how LINA handles it:
- Soft Overdraft: Service continues up to 125% of capacity with a cost cap. Predictable, with a safety net.
- Automatic Top-Up: Uninterrupted service with variable cost. Best for teams that can't afford downtime.
- Hard Stop: Service pauses when the limit is reached. Fixed cost, full control.
